King Arthur Carrousel is a fun and magical ride at Disneyland, right in the middle of Fantasyland. It has been a favorite for visitors since Disneyland opened in 1955. The ride has 68 beautifully carved horses and one chariot, all under a big castle-like canopy with over 3,000 sparkling lights. It feels like stepping into a fairy tale about King Arthur and his knights.
The carousel is ancient and special. It was first made in 1922 and used to be at a park in Toronto, Canada, before moving to Disneyland in 1954. Walt Disney wanted the carousel to have only horses that looked like they were running, so the Imagineers fixed up the ride to make sure every horse moved up and down as the carousel went around.
Each horse is different and colorful, with lots of details. The horses on the outside row came from old carousels all over North America, so they are extra special. The middle part of the carousel is decorated with paintings from the Disney movie Sleeping Beauty, making it feel even more like a storybook.
Riding, you can hear music from Disney movies like Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Mary Poppins. The music makes the ride feel happy and magical for everyone.
Right next to the carousel, there’s a fun activity called the Sword in the Stone. One lucky person gets to try pulling the magical sword, Excalibur, out of the stone—just like in the stories about King Arthur.
This ride is great for kids and adults. No height rules exist, but little kids must ride with a grown-up. There are also special seats for people in wheelchairs. The ride lasts about two minutes and is gentle and fun. It takes you on a magical journey full of knights, castles, and fairy tales.
Even though Disneyland has many new and exciting rides, King Arthur Carrousel is still one of the most loved attractions. Its beautiful design and magical story make it a must-see when you visit Fantasyland.
