Your Insider Guide to Halloween Time at the Disneyland® Resort
From themed rides to “boo-tiful” decorations and scary snacks, the Disneyland® Resort has something for everyone this spooky season.
Wondering how you can experience all the tricks and treats that Mickey Mouse and friends have to offer? Stovall’s has you covered.
Halloween Time vs. Oogie Boogie Bash®

First things first: There’s a difference between Halloween Time and Oogie Boogie Bash®.
Halloween Time includes all the park decorations, character experiences, park show additions, and themed treats that are available to guests with general admission. All guests traveling to the Disneyland® Park or California Adventure from August 21 – October 31 will experience Halloween Time through the course of a regular day in the parks.
Oogie Boogie Bash® is a separately ticketed event offered on specific nights in August, September, and October. This special event costs $139.00 and takes place in Disney® California Adventure from 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM. Admission also includes entry to Disney® California Adventure as early as 3:00 PM, so guests who do not have a general admission ticket that day can still spend three hours in the park before Oogie Boogie Bash® begins.
For this post, we’ll focus on everything that’s included in Halloween Time. You can check out the Disneyland® Resort’s official website for information on Oogie Boogie Bash®.
Why Is Halloween at the Disneyland® Resort So Special?
- Spooky Themed Characters and Costumes
Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas® can be found near New Orleans Square. After guests meet them, they can experience a specially themed Haunted Mansion® with creatures and sights inspired by Tim Burton’s film.
And the Cars in Cars Land® are even getting in on the fun! Lightning McQueen looks like he’s dressing up as his favorite superhero (kachow!) and we hear that Mater has been working on his Transylvanian accent…
And Goofy’s Kitchen characters are dressing up in special costumes for the Halloween season this year!
- Haunted Rides and Experiences
What’s more exciting than spooky characters? Spooky ride modifications! Our favorites other than Haunted Mansion Holiday® include Guardians of the Galaxy® – Monsters After Dark, where guests must return back to the collection to save Groot from monsters, and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween and Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, featuring themed decorations and special music.
Pro-Tip: Because Guardians of the Galaxy® changes after dark, guests can book another Lightning Lane even if they had previously booked the normal Guardians of the Galaxy® because Monsters After Dark technically counts as a different ride.
What’s even more memorable for the whole family than special rides? Trick-or-Treat at the Disneyland® Resort! Families can experience Mickey’s Trick and Treat®: an interactive stage show with the opportunity to trick-or-treat for candy.
- Festive Park Treats and Decorations
But let’s be honest. Here at Stovall’s, we’re all about good food and good times. The Disneyland® Resort offers both this fall. Here’s a few highlights:
- Carnation Café is offering a Caramel Apple Martini and an Elysian Brewing Night Owl Pumpkin Ale. Also keep an eye out for Apple Pie Dip Churros around the park!
- Some of our favorite atmospheric decorations include the classic giant Mickey Jack-O-Lantern, the festive lights in greenery around both parks, and the Plaza de la Familia® allowing guests to experience the town square in Pixar’s Coco® for themselves.
So what are you waiting for? Book your stay at Stovall’s today. When you stay next door to the parks, your family can stay up late for spooky nights at the Disneyland® Resort!
